If you work in hydraulics, you know that crimping is the most critical part of making a hose assembly.
At RUIHUA HARDWARE, we see too many failures caused by uneven crimping—and that’s a much bigger problem than it looks.
As shown in the picture, after crimping, the fitting threads become uneven, deformed, or misaligned:
One side of the threads is over-crimped and distorted, while the other side is loose
Gaps or bulges appear between the fitting and the hose, breaking the seal
The fitting looks crooked or uneven—clearly not up to standard
This usually happens due to wrong die size, incorrect crimping force, or poor workmanship. It’s one of the most common—and most avoidable—mistakes in hose assembly.
Some people think “it looks okay” is good enough. But in a high-pressure hydraulic system, small flaws become big failures:
Leaks from seal failure
Uneven threads break the seal. Hydraulic oil will leak out—causing messy equipment, downtime, and costly repairs.
Fittings blow off—safety hazard
A poorly crimped fitting can blow off under pressure. A high-pressure oil spray can hurt people and damage equipment. This is a real safety risk.
Unstable pressure and shorter equipment life
Uneven crimping creates weak spots. Over time, pressure spikes and vibration can crack the fitting, damage pumps and valves, and shorten system life.
Returns and reputation damage
Sending out bad assemblies means returns, complaints, and lost trust. In the end, it costs more than just money—it hurts your name.
Pick the right die
Always use the correct crimping die for the hose and fitting. Never “make do” with a die that’s close enough.
Follow the process
Control the crimping force, stroke, and number of crimps. Check the first piece before running the whole batch.
Inspect every piece
Do a visual check on every assembly. Look for even threads, no bulges, and no distortion. Test under pressure. Scrap the bad ones—don’t let them ship.
Keep equipment in good shape
Calibrate your crimper regularly. Replace worn dies. Good equipment helps you stay consistent.
In hydraulics, safety always comes first.
A small mistake in crimping can lead to big problems—for your customers, your team, and your business.
RUIHUA HARDWARE is committed to quality and reliability. Take the time to do it right. Make every hose assembly one you’re proud to stand behind.
